Show your love by helping animals!
It’s Valentine’s Day today, and a good time to think about showing your love by helping animals. Tomorrow Sunnie and I will be participating in the Humane Society’s 2011 Lobby Day. We participated last year as well, and it is an opportunity to meet with your state government officials to highlight important animal rights bills that have been introduced.
You are expected to pre-register, but I do not think they’ll turn anyone away if you still want to go and haven’t registered yet. Click the above link to find information on your local event and state Humane Society officials who will be organizing the event. If you’re in Indiana, you can find directions to the meeting here.
You’ll hear an introduction to what the bills are and get an opportunity to speak with your representative and tell him or her why they need to support the bills. This year in Indiana, which has some of the most lax animal rights laws in the nation, we will be pushing to outlaw fox penning, captive trophy hunting, and to strengthen animal fighting laws. Last year we also had a rally against puppy mills prior to meeting with our representatives.
So show your love and take the opportunity tomorrow to make a difference and push for animal rights!
