Dr.Champ

For some reason, I’ve been thinking about the kdrama- Dr. Champ a lot lately. I enjoyed it while I was watching it, but never thought that I’d keep thinking about the drama afterwards!

If you haven’t heard about Dr. Champ, it’s a kdrama about the lives of orthopedic doctors, athletes, coaches and physical therapists at Taereung National Village, the training center for the Korean national Olympic athletes. It broadcast last year – 2010.

While Dr. Champ wasn’t a mega-hit or anything, it had solid ratings and was a real solid drama with a good story and good characters and awesome music. If you haven’t seen it yet, you might want to! It has a really unique feel that is hard to describe and I really liked visiting the world of the athletes in the training camp.

I’ve been impressed with Kim So Yeon in many dramas (including IRIS, Best Chef, Princess Prosecutor), and she is solid in here as Kim Yeon Woo; although, this role doesn’t show off her acting or beauty like IRIS or Best Chef. I thought Jung Gyu Woon’s work as the judo athlete Park Ji Heon was great – he really has the looks of a judo athlete! As well as Uhm Tae Woong as Lee Do Wook, the cynical, doctor who is haunted by the past injury when he was a speed-skater. He has some really harsh, cynical lines that make you laugh.

The OST is awesome. There are multiple really good songs – including Fall in love with you, Perfect your love, My all…etc. Fall in love with you is my favorite. As always, the grammar errors in the song can be a bit distracting! Haha… but come on, it’s cute! ;P

While I usually couldn’t care less about sports, to Bill’s dismay, I really liked this drama. It was refreshingly real and unexaggerated. If you haven’t seen it, give it a try!

I really like your kdrama blog posts! I’m finishing up on Secret Garden right now, which is hilarious, but I’ll keep this one in mind for later. 🙂

Hi, Julia! Yes, please do check it out when you can, I think you’ll enjoy it!! A lot of the minor characters in the show were based on real athletes that are still competing in international competitions, so that is interesting as well. Yes, Secret Garden is hilarious, we’re still watching that right now. My friends in Korea were all in love with Secret Garden and the OST was a mega-hit, staying number 1 on the Kpop charts for months! (I loved your review on those lip balms, Julia, very cute! ;P)
